On August 2, 2018, the invited seminar guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Gunnar Duttge from the University of Göttingen, visited KIC to discuss the current reform debate about the criminal procedural law in Germany. He claimed that the possible changes of the criminal procedure law occurring in Germany’s reform debate are motivated by their criminal justice’s limited resources. German legislators continuously sought ways to establish a “more effective and practical configuration of criminal proceedings.” However, “practicability” and “efficiency” are still not well defined regarding this matter.
