Mr. Souliyavong, the Chief Prosecutor of Laos Civil Department of the Office of the Northern Regional People’s Prosecutor, was dispatched to the Korean Institute of Criminology under the Prosecutor Exchange Programme. It is a significant event as he is the first participant of the AsiaJust Prosecutor Exchange Programme. The Programme, funded by the Republic of Korea and the KIC, aims to enhance regional cooperation among prosecutors in East Asia and the Pacific region and develop a network. Prosecutors in the region agreed to launch the exchange program at the High Level Prosecutor’s Meeting with the ASEAN Member States in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, in 2010. During his eight-week exchange in Korea, Mr. Souliyavong will conduct an in-depth research on Korea’s anti-money laundering system with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and the Korean Institute of Criminology.
