The KIC signed MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for Securing safety of People from Criminal Activities

Prof. em. Dr. jur. Kim Il-Su, the KIC President and Mr. Park Won Soon, Mayor of Seoul, attended the MOU ceremony and shared the views on the necessity of the improving residential conditions to reduce the crime rates on March 13, 2013. By signing the MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the KIC spurs the academic supports of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) project from the perspectives of the crime prevention and criminal justice to the City Government for protecting people against crime. Since 2012, the city government has focused on not only the crime prevention but also urban view by applying the CPTED project. The CPTED project has been designed to build crime prevention and crime deterrence facilities in the residential areas, school zones, backstreets areas. Dr. Park Kyungrae, Research Fellow of KIC, emphasized “by changing environment of urban areas, residents feel their residential areas safe and love to live there. With CPTED project, we made remarkable results, decreasing crime rates, which have attracted attention of experts and officials from local governments home and abroad.”
