The President of the Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC), Sang-Ok Park, received six delegates from the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) including the president of TIJ, Ambassador Adisak Panupong, on February 13. As Ambassador Panupong congratulated President Park’s inauguration, he expressed his hope to vigorously carry out research cooperation and exchange with KIC and considered KIC as a role model and an advisor of TIJ. President Park responded by emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperative relationship between the two institutes and promised to pay close attention to the activities of TIJ and provide full support if necessary. TIJ was established in 2011 by the Government of Thailand as an affiliated institute to the Ministry of Justice in Thailand. TIJ plays a leading role in conducting researches in the field of criminal law and criminal justice. One of TIJ’s main objectives is to promote the successful implementation of United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders (the Bangkok Rules) under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol.
