The Korean Institute of Criminology held its first Advisory-Steering Committee for the Virtual Forum Against Cybercrime (VFAC) project on April 29. President Sang-Ok Park and three experts representing different organizations in the field of academia and private industry, gathered to discuss the ways to improve the contents of the project and develop strategies for its practical application. *The Virtual Forum Against Cybercrime (VFAC) came into being in 2005 when the Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC) held a workshop on ‘Measures to Combat Computer-Related Crime’ at the 11th ‘UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.’ It is a non-profit international project that aims at reducing the impact of cybercrime by building an international and interdisciplinary network of cybercrime researchers. The VFAC is also working to increase the knowledge and capacity of judicial officials, law enforcement officers, and policy makers in developing countries by providing free training and access to resources.
