Professor Natti Ronel from Bar-Ilan University’s Department of Criminology shared a presentation on positive criminology titled, Positive Criminology in Theory and in Practice, during a luncheon seminar at the Korean Institute of Criminology on September 12, 2018. His presentation provided an in-depth explanation of positive criminology’s principles in theory and practice and provided helpful examples which reflected the benefits of adopting positive criminology. Positive criminology is a recent and innovative concept in criminology that focuses on an individual’s positive encounters and forces of inclusion which can increase crime desistance. He also shared findings on his research that he has conducted on people with addictions in a Jewish therapeutic community in Israel. His results revealed the participants achieved self-integration from a positive experience in their recovery process.
