It is also known as one of the worst European atrocities since the Second World War. Participants from both institutes and experts gathered to review the case and discuss the global efforts on advocating international criminal justice. Followed by the keynote speech of Sang-hyun Song, former president of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the first session examined the background and facts of the Srebrenica massacre, and discussed the issue of both states and international society’s responsibilities on the matter. The second session covered the relevant provisions and precedents, to ascertain ICC’s attitude towards genocide and the implications for the Korean peninsular.
