2019 Stockholm Criminology Symposium

2019 Stockholm Criminology Symposium was held on June 10~12, 2019 at Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. In Sup Han, President of the Korean Institute of Criminology, together with three delegates from the Korean Institute of Criminology participated in the Symposium. As part of their participation, on the first day of the symposium on Monday, June 10th, from 13:30 to 15:00, the KIC delegates held an independent panel session entitled, “Criminal Justice for Human Dignity and Values.” The session moderated by Senior Researcher Mr. Erik Grevholm from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention had four presentations delivered by the delegates: “Reorienting criminal policy towards ‘Human Dignity and Values’,” (President Dr. In-Sup Han) “Types and countermeasures of hate speech in Korea,” (Senior Research Fellow Dr. Mi-Suk Park) “Community notification of sex offenders against children in South Korea: Current laws and policies,” (Research Fellow Dr. Han-Kyun Kim) and “Reducing juvenile crimes and recidivism in Korea” (Research Fellow and Deputy Director of International Cooperation Center Dr. Jea-Hyen Soung). In addition to participating in the symposium, the delegates made official visits to the headquarters of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) in Lund, Sweden on June 12th and the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control (HEUNI) in Helsinki, Finland on June 13th, member institutes of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network of Institutes (PNIs). During their visits, the delegates discussed the ways of further substantiating bilateral cooperation on research and activities based on their memorandum of understanding agreements.
