Three delegates from the Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC) - Dr. Ji Sun Kim, Senior Research Fellow; Mr. Youn Seok Park, Senior Prosecutor; and Dr. Jea Hyen Soung, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Center, participated in the 28th Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) held from 20 to 24 May 2019 in Vienna, Austria. The KIC delegates participated in the Spring PNI Coordination Meeting presided by UNODC Director of Division of Treaty Affairs Mr. John Brandolino. Dr. Jea Hyen Soung share the latest news of KIC on holding academic seminars, conferences, and engagement with domestic and foreign institutes. Dr. Soung asked for attention from all PNI members on the 30th anniversary of the founding of KIC and its anniversary forum to be held on 31 May 2019. During the plenary session, Dr. Soung made a statement on Item 5 (Thematic discussion on the responsibility of effective, fair, humane and accountable criminal justice systems in preventing and countering crime motivated by intolerance or discrimination of any kind) on Tuesday, 21 May 2019 and Senior Prosecutor Park made a statement on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea on Item 7(Use and application of United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice).
