The 18th UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Date: 16 ~24 April, 2009 Venue: Vienna International Center, Vienna, Austria From 16 to 24, the 18th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice took place in Vienna International Center, UNODC Headquaters in Vienna, Austria. Prof. Dr. Sang-ki Park, President of KIC attended this Commission with other KIC research fellows. KIC has be come a member of United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network Institute (UNPNI) since 2004. Member States have encouraged to discuss on global crime trends and responses. Attention was also given to the more effective use of UN standards and norm and implementation of UNODC or the Commission-endorsed policies. Other important discussions were on the prison overcrowding, penal reform, economic fraud and identity-related crimes. On 21 April, during a plenary session, President Park presented the progress report on the Virtual Forum against Cybercrime, co-developed by KIC and UNODC. On the next day, Dr. Seong-Jin Yeon, Director of Public Relations & International Cooperation Center introduced the online training program of the Virtual Forum against Cybercrime.
