Inauguration of the 13th President of KIC

The Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC), a government-sponsored research institute on crime prevention and criminal justice, inaugurated Sang-Ok Park, a former senior partner from law firm DoYeon, as its 13th President on January 20, 2014. Through an inaugural speech, President Park highly emphasized KIC’s role in providing continuous support to the government’s nation building through secured social construction and KIC’s active participation as a think-tank in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice policy-making. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the cooperation network with other government agencies, such as the court, Ministry of Justice, Prosecutor’s office, Police, and Korea Correctional Service as well as improving the criminal justice system in Korea together with the entire members of KIC. President Park, born in Siheung City, Kyunggi, graduated from Kyunggi High-school and Seoul National University School of Law. As the 11th batch of the Judicial Research & Training Institute, he served as the vice-president of the Judicial Research & Training Institute, the director of the Uijeonbu District Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the director of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutor’s Office.
