On April 12th, KICJ convened the second Expert Group Meeting (EGM) of the year on the topic of illegal drugs in Korea and the United States.

The event began with Jae-hak Jo, prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, speaking on drug-related legislation, major illicit drugs, and new patterns in drug-related crime in Korea. KICJ Research Fellow Dr. Nang Hee Kim discussed the treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders in Korea. Prof. Ralph Weisheit from Illinois State University delivered the final talk on the changing status of select illicit drugs in the U.S.

The event concluded with a discussion session examining different trends in drug-related crimes in Korea and the U.S.
