On July 19th, KICJ and the Military Manpower Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the advancement of criminal justice and legal policies on military affairs.
The agreement ensures partnership in areas including ▲ collaborative research and development of policies surrounding the Military Service Act ▲ joint research projects and academic conferences ▲ personnel exchanges for research and lectures, and ▲ exchange of research data and publications.
Dr. Tae-hoon Ha, President of KICJ, said: “We hope this MOU will be a step toward conducting a comprehensive research on not only military affairs policies related to criminal justice but also the Military Service Act overall.”
Ki-sik Lee, Commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, also said: “Preventive measures are necessary in order to combat evolving forms of draft evasion crime. Through today's agreement we hope to establish an opportunity for effective crime prevention and detection of military affairs-related crime.”
