From May 25th to May 30th, the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), led by President Ha Tae-hoon, visited key legal institutions in Shenyang and Changchun, China, to strengthen collaborative ties.


This visit marked an important step in enhancing cooperation between KICJ and universities in China, including Liaoning University and Jilin University. On May 26th, at the 2nd Anti-Corruption Forum held by the Liaoning University Law School, President Ha Tae-hoon delivered a keynote speech on "Trends and Challenges in Korean Criminal Legislation and Policy." Distinguished participants included Professor Kim Il-su, Honorary Professor of Korea University and former KICJ President, and Professor Xing of the Liaoning University.


KICJ's researchers also presented on various topics:

Senior Researcher Kim Kyoungchan discussed "Anti-Corruption Measures and Cooperation for the Protection of Public Interests."

Senior Researcher Hong Youngoh presented on "Trends and Countermeasures in Corruption among Korean Public Officials."

Research Fellow Hong Seeun discussed "Efforts to Eradicate Corruption in Education and the Impact on Teachers' Rights."

Researcher Fellow Kyunggyu presented on "Pre-trial Confiscation and Preservation Orders in Corruption Crime Proceeds."


Additionally, on May 26th, the delegation visited the Liaoning University Discipline Inspection and Supervision Academy to explore the institution's operational status and discuss research collaboration. This visit facilitated the exchange of various opinions to enhance cooperation between the two institutions.


From May 28th to 29th, President Ha Tae-hoon delivered another keynote speech at Jilin University Law School on "Trends and Challenges in Korean Criminal Legislation and Policy."


The delegation, including President Ha Tae-hoon, Dr. Kim Kyungchan, Dr.Hong Youngoh, Dr. Hong Seeun, Dr. Park Kyunggyu, Dr. Choi Jisun (Director of Division of International Affairs), discussions with Jilin University faculty members, including the dean, deputy deans, and professors, to explore mutual research interests and collaborative opportunities.


The visit from May 25th to 30th was a significant milestone in establishing a close cooperative relationship between KICJ and major legal institutions in China. Both institutions will continue to strengthen their collaboration through ongoing research exchanges, contributing to the advancement of legal research and policy development.
